Uniform
Uniform is a longstanding tradition at Grangefield School, as a means to provide an identity for students and recognition within the wider community to reflect a pride and image in the school. Our current Uniform Policy includes the following:
Black trousers or black skirt.
These must be tailored and not made from denim, stretch or similar materials. They should be fitted at the waist (not fitted “hipster” style).
Short, stretch or layered skirts are not allowed.
Black jeans are not allowed.
School sweatshirt
This must be the school Burgundy sweatshirt embroidered with school badge.
Other sweatshirts, jumpers and cardigans are not allowed and students will be required to remove them in school.
White shirt or blouse with collar.
This must be full length so that it will tuck into trousers or skirt and button to the neck, so that the school tie fastens at the neck also.
School tie.
This is the standard school tie, fastened and of an appropriate length.
Grey or white socks or grey, white, black or natural-coloured tights may be worn.
Black shoes.
These must be school style black shoes.
Any boots or boot-style shoes (such as Timberland shoes) are not allowed. Trainers and plimsolls are not allowed.
Jewellery
A watch and no more than one small pair of earrings (studs only).
Other items of jewellery, including other piercings, are not allowed and students will be required to remove them.
All piercings and any watches or bracelets etc. must be removed for PE lessons and subjects where safety is a consideration.
Outdoor coats should not be denim or denim style. Students will be required to remove outdoor coats in lessons. Students will be required to remove any jumper or other item worn as an outdoor coat.
Hair should be worn appropriately for school. The school may require students with inappropriate hair colour or styling to work in isolation.
Problems with Uniform
Students who have a short term problem with a uniform item (typically one day) may be allowed in lessons with a special permission slip. Parents and carers should contact the form tutor immediately regarding this. Longer term problems will be considered by the head of year.
For students who have a particular need or problem of any sort, parents and carers should contact the head of year and discuss this. The school is very supportive of those students with medical or other concerns.
Students who fail to wear full school uniform for no good reason may be removed from lessons and isolated in school. Students who persistently fail to wear uniform will not be allowed to take part in additional school activities, nor represent the school.
